Oven Roasted Peas

I have a great way to cook those frozen peas we all stocked up on during our Corona days. Roast them! This will be infinitely preferable to microwaved peas, trust me!

Oven Roasted Peas are incredibly delicious, the right texture, and just a hint of onion is added for some dimensional flavor.

There really isn’t much involved with this recipe. Simple recipes are some of my favorite recipes! Here’s a hint: Make more than you think you will need. They are that good.

I love to serve these easy peasy peas with steak and potatoes, chicken and dumplings, black bean burgers, and braised chicken thighs.

Give them a try and let me know what you think of this super simple side dish!

Course: Dinner, Side dish

Keyword: oven roasted, peas

Equipment

  • rimmed baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 3-4 cups frozen peas (or two 12 oz bags)
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, whole
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste. I recommend at least one teaspoon of each.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425.
  • Spread frozen peas in a single layer on rimmed baking sheet.
  • Melt butter in skillet or small saucepan until melted and slightly browned.
  • Pour butter over peas, and add garlic cloves.
  • Slice onion into thin slices, seperate slices, and gently mix in with peas, garlic, and butter.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, mixing halfway through. Toss again before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Don’t like onions? Leave ’em out! Feel free to sprinkle seasoned salt, thyme, rosemary, basil, or oregano over these wonderful peas.
Place in an air tight container and they will keep up to a week in the fridge.
