Hummus is something I have always enjoyed, even when I was a child. I love the flavor and texture, and it is my preferred dip for raw veggies.
It is surprisingly easy to make, and only takes 7 ingredients.
- chickpeas
- tahini
- garlic cloves
- olive oil
- lemon juice
- kosher salt
- water
In fact, we are going on vacation in a couple weeks and will be taking some along. Hummus is perfect for those beach vacays because it can tolerate the heat a little bit longer. I do recommend keeping it in an air tight container.

One really great aspect of chickpeas, aka garbanzo beans, is that they are legumes, which makes them rich in fiber and protein. So while we’re lounging on the beach all day, munching on homemade hummus will satiate our appetites for several hours.
Added to the chickpeas is tahini (ground sesame seed), fresh garlic cloves, olive oil, lemon juice, water, and kosher salt. These fresh and flavorful ingredients really come together in a blender or food processor to make a delicious and creamy hummus you’ll want to make again and again.
In the recipe, canned chickpeas are listed, however you could purchase them dry and cook them yourself.

Not a garlic lover? Please seek help. Joking! Omit it all together if you’re not a fan. Alternatively, add a roasted red pepper instead, or even a couple tablespoons of pesto. Garlic will always be my favorite, however, and even roasted garlic cloves would be excellent!
